No code is a software development approach to build apps and web applications without doing the coding.

No code platforms empower people to take the visual approach of building applications instead of using programming language and syntax of logic.

For most non-programmers like me, building a website or launching an app seems like an impossible task. But after the no-code movement, anyone can build things without using coding.

If you want to work on a passion project or a side hustle, being a noncoder will not be a hurdle for you. There are a lot of no-code platforms with in-depth tutorials which you can use to work on your idea and build it out.

Consider me for example, I am from a commerce background and I have built NoCodeGeeks without using a line of code.

How does No code work?

You must be wondering,

how do no-code platforms work?

If I don’t have to code then who is doing it?

No code is nothing but a layer created for code under which a lot of code is being written behind the scenes.

The end-user will not be able to see it. The coding is done is by the no-code platforms in the back end which hides the complexity for the users. It allows them to build apps and websites with simple drag and drop solutions.

Things you can do now with No Code:

  • Website: With the evolution of No code, there are a lot of website builders like Webflow, Softr, Carrd, etc which you can use to build your website without using a single line of code.
  • Web application & Internal tools: With No code, you can build simple web applications and internal tools using platforms like Bubble, Adalo, Stacker, etc.
  • Automation: Now, you don’t hire a python expert or an automation expert to automate repetitive tasks for you. You can do it with the help of no code automation tools like zapier and pabbly.

Advantages of No Code

Easy to build a prototype

Gone are those days, when you have an idea and had to hire a developer or a team to build its prototype. Thanks to No code, You can build a prototype of your idea on your own.

Time

No code platforms have made things so easier than the app which would normally take at least 1 month to build, now you can do it within hours.

Less dependency

No code empowers non coders to do the changes in the website or app they have built. It is a great advantage for marketing and product teams who want to launch new things or do changes to the existing ones.

Costing

Imagine hiring a bunch of people to develop a mobile or web application for you and the cost you will pay for them. With No code movement, things have become less costly. You don’t need to hire multiple people to build stuff. You can do it on your own or hire a single no-code platform expert where you want to build your project.

Scaling

With no-code platforms, you can scale things a lot faster. One of the best examples would be the delight chat’s team who published 300 landing pages within a week.

Disadvantages of No Code

The nocode industry evolution has just started and when we start something new, limitation comes with it.

Limited usage

No code being a new concept has not evolved to build complex apps. You can easily build and work on simple web applications.

App integration

There are a lot of no code platforms which cannot be integrated with other no code tools or platforms. Zapier solves this problem to some extent but there are still many limitations to it.

How Low-Code is different from No-Code?

There is a very thin line between low code and no code. In simple terms, No code means a programming platform where we can build web applications without writing a single line of code.

Low code is more of a software building approach where little to no coding is needed to build out applications. This person following this approach needs to have a basic understanding of programming and coding.

What is the future of no-code development?

  • More No code Tech Companies: Today, we have no code chatbots and app builder companies. There will be more no-code tech companies in the future.
  • Internal apps will be no code: Every organization needs specific internal tools to run their businesses, today tools like airtable and softr are solving this problem to some extent. In the future, there will be a time when all the internal apps would be made on no code.
  • More Makers - With the evolution of no code it is going to give freedom to every non-coder to become a maker. Even the founder of product hunt says, As creating things on the internet becomes more accessible, more people will become makers. It’s no longer limited to the <1% of engineers that can code resulting in an explosion of ideas from all kinds of people.
